Hey guys, I'm back!

So I think it's time for us to really get into the nitty gritty of this chocolate hype. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be breaking down the positives, the negatives and the history (and conspiracy) of this hype!

In this post, I will be analysing the chocolate health benefits.

1. High in fibre

This will in turn lead to healthier bowel movement (in other words, simply, prevent constipation). Dietary fibre also aids with weight loss (as it helps food get through your body), lowers cholesterol levels and lower blood sugar level. Dark chocolate contains 11g of fibre per 100g (which is quite a lot!)

2. High in minerals

Dark chocolate is a good source for the following minerals:

- Iron

- Magnesium

- Copper

- Manganese

- Potassium

- Zinc

- Selenium

Now it will take a while for me to explain what each of these do for your body, but just keep in mind that iron is needed to deliver oxygen in your body, magnesium helps regulate many reactions in your body, and copper is needed in your immune and nervous system.

3. Antioxidants

Dark chocolate is VERY high in two types of antioxidant: flavonoids and polyphenols; this includes epicatechin!

Now antioxidants do various wonderful things for your body. This includes fighting disease-causing free radicals, preventing cancer, improving your heart health (which decreases chances heart diseases!) and many more!

So thats a wrap guys; these are the three most important health benefits of dark chocolate (in my opinion).

Next week, we are continuing with the drawbacks of chocolate! (So don't go to supermarkets and start stock up on chocolates just quite yet.)

See you!
